About

What is TRON (TRX) and When Was It Launched?

TRON is one of the most ambitious blockchain-based projects designed to function as an operating system for decentralized applications (dApps). The TRON network provides developers and users with a high-performance infrastructure offering fast transaction speeds, scalability, and accessibility. In many ways, TRON is considered similar to Ethereum, but it aims to process significantly more transactions per second at a lower cost. The native cryptocurrency of the TRON ecosystem is called TRX.

The question “When was TRON launched?” is one of the most frequently asked by crypto enthusiasts. TRON was originally conceptualized in 2014, but the project officially entered the market in 2017. During its Initial Coin Offering (ICO), TRON successfully raised over $70 million, which accelerated its development and global adoption. Since then, TRX has steadily grown in popularity as one of the most widely used altcoins.

Who Founded TRON?

TRON was officially launched in 2017 by the TRON Foundation, founded by Justin Sun. Sun is a well-known entrepreneur in the crypto industry, previously working with Ripple before founding TRON. He later acquired BitTorrent and subsequently uTorrent, integrating them into the TRON ecosystem to expand its real-world applications.

When it was first introduced, TRON was promoted as a potential “next Bitcoin”, which drew attention but also brought criticism and skepticism. Over the years, Justin Sun became a controversial figure in the industry, often engaging in debates with Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin about TRON’s originality and vision. Despite these controversies, TRON has maintained its position as one of the top blockchain platforms, supported by its active development team and community.

How to Buy and Sell TRON (TRX)?

TRON is widely available on both local and global cryptocurrency exchanges, making it accessible to millions of investors.

In Turkey, platforms like Paribu, Bitci, and BtcTurk list TRON, while globally, TRX is supported by major exchanges such as Binance, Coinbase, and Huobi.

To purchase TRON (TRX):

  1. Choose a Reliable Exchange: Select a trustworthy exchange that lists TRX.

  2. Register and Verify: Create an account and complete the necessary identity verification steps.

  3. Deposit Funds: Add funds to your account. On Turkish exchanges, you can typically deposit via bank transfer or Papara, while international exchanges often support credit cards or stablecoins.

  4. Buy TRX: Go to the trading section, select TRX, enter the amount you want to buy, and confirm the purchase.

Selling TRX is just as simple. From the exchange’s trading section, select the amount of TRON you want to sell, confirm the order, and the equivalent value will be credited to your account balance.

Can You Mine TRON?

Unlike Bitcoin or Litecoin, TRON does not rely on traditional Proof-of-Work mining with ASICs or GPUs. Instead, TRON uses a Delegated Proof-of-Stake (DPoS) consensus mechanism, where validators (super representatives) are elected by TRX holders to process transactions and secure the network.

That said, TRON still allows individuals to earn TRX rewards, but through staking rather than conventional mining. TRX holders can delegate their coins to validators, and in return, receive a share of the block rewards.

This makes TRON more energy-efficient compared to Bitcoin or Ethereum’s earlier Proof-of-Work models. While you don’t need expensive mining equipment, you do need to hold TRX tokens in order to participate in staking and earn rewards.
